PLUSH YOU 2007: baisy, bonnee & zeen

***************************well, i'm in seattle, and so are the knitimals. i stopped by today, ever so briefly, to check in with the kids. the opening isn't until tomorrow, but i wanted to make sure they were ok. they are. they're in good company... over 100 artists from all over the world! here are baisy, bonnee & zeen hanging out in Fancy, just waiting to be adopted by someone with really good taste. the kids will be insitu for a month... so, if you want one of them, stop in to Fancy, OR, give them a call (if you live far away). alright, i have to go get used to the 3 hour time difference and save up my pep for the opening tomorrow. i have my eye on a few additions to my personal collection too, so i have to go plan my expenditures. xoxo d.

so far i've learned...

as a first time visitor to seattle, i've been trying to keep my camera at the ready, so i can capture the important things at a moment's notice. so far i've learned that seattle has:
*serious rock star literacy

*fantastically obscure public art

*giant seagulls

*an artsy aquarium

*invisible camouflage birds

well, it's almost time... Plush You! at Schmancy starts on Friday October 12th from 5PM to 9PM. It's going to be a great show with over 100 international plush artists in attendance. The show will be taking place at Schmancy and then move to Nancy and Fancy + Pants. The Knitimals will be on display at Fancy. My brother and I are making the cross country journey and i, for one, and looking forward to seeing all those bright smiling wool faces on what will no doubt be a grey and chilly day. if you live in seattle, please stop by! the show will be up for a month too... so if you WANT to live in seattle, this would be a good reason to expedite the move. for more info, go to:

excuse the pun, but(t) how cute is this little knitimal butt? here's a wonderful friday post from my good friend carrie... nothing says 5 o'clock on a friday like a couple of knit friends cheering you across the workday finish line.

504 sq feet of brick completely covered in paint!

here it is! finished! wow. this is the largest single mural i have ever painted and i couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. i love it. i don't however, love the fact that i can't turn my head to the left at all. at all.

the final panel was: "senior services" and there they are... seniors... being "serviced". ok, so i'll admit that this one is a little more vague in narrative, but they have a cat and i think they look happy & healthy and really, isn't that what matters? i love its purple-y-ness. this is also the panel that gets my full signature and imagine my glee when mid name i turn to see katie, isadora and sweetie estelle... at THEEEEE MOMENT! such a cheering section.

so yes, this is the last of the health department mural posts. i will go by today and seal the paintings with a milky, gluey, coating that supposedly resists (or at least makes it easier to clean) graffiti and other ick.

then, tomorrow evening, after work, the long awaited... massage! i've opted for deep tissue and i doubt i will regret it.

switching gears a little... now that mural time is behind us for a while, i will be re-focusing my attention on knitting, and collaging. i have a few new ideas too, so those of you who come out to Bazaart at the American Visionary Art Museum will not be disappointed. til next time! xoxo danamarie
